Cohort Default Rate
The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) publishes cohort default rates based
on the percentage of a school’s borrowers who enter repayment on Direct Loan Program
loans during a federal fiscal year (October 1–September 30) and default before the
end of the second following fiscal year.

Cost of Attendance
Cost of Attendance
The Cost of Attendance (COA) is the total calculated cost to attend college each year.
The COA includes tuition, fees, room and board, and allowances for books, supplies,
transportation, loan fees and other costs. It can also include other expenses like
the rental or purchase of a personal computer, costs related to a disability, or costs
for eligible study abroad programs.

Financial Aid Programs
Cuyamaca College offers many types of financial aid, including federal Title IV programs as well as State of California program and institutional
aid. Financial aid may include grants, loans, federal work-study, and Foundation scholarships.
Grossmont/Cuyamaca College Promise
California resident, or eligible AB540 eligible nonresident
Grants
A form of aid that is granted, or gifted, to students based on financial need. Grants
help with tuition, and typically do not need to be paid back.
Federal Direct Loans
Subsidized/unsubsidized loans are low-interest rate loans made to students, enrolled
in six (6) or more units, by the federal government.
Work-Study
Work Study programs allow students to earn all or part of their financial aid by working
on/off campus while they are in school.
Scholarships
Financial Aid based on merit, need, or other criteria given by the scholarship donor.
Scholarships do not have to be repaid

Study Abroad
Study Abroad
A student enrolling in a study abroad program sponsored by the Grossmont-Cuyamaca
Community College District (GCCCD) that is approved for credit at Cuyamaca College,
is considered enrolled for the purposes of applying for Financial Aid. It is their
responsibility to meet with their academic counselor to ensure the classes they are
taking are required for the completion of their declared academic program.
- After applying for Financial Aid, students will be considered for eligibility for
the California College Promise Grant (CCPG), the Cuyamaca Promise, Pell Grant, Cal
Grant, scholarships, and loans.
Students are responsible for any costs exceeding the amount of aid received and are
responsible for making any payments for the program by the deadlines.
